In today’s society when we want something we want it now ! Right now, Instantly. List building can take some time but it is definitely worth the effort the rewards can be phenomenal.
Before you start thinking about list building you need to consider what market you are going to be working in. You need a plan. Lets say you are going into the health and fitness market. A very lucrative market. Now we need to narrow it down to a niche.
So now we have to do the research and find some products that are all related. For example lets say we decide to market Pilates. We have found several information CDs and DVDs on Pilates, and have found someone to joint venture a 10 week loose weight and get fit course with 6 DVDs, 3 audio tapes and a book, quality stuff.
We decide to market 1 pilates DVDs as our first product, this is known as the front end product. Two DVDs and two CDs will make up the backend product and then the 10 week course will be our second backend product.
Now for your list. There are many ways to build your list, and everyone has their own method. Remember to target your list to your product. Research and find a reputable list broker and use a mailing list. Use classified adverts. Go on-line and find an e-mail broker. Use e-bay to sell cheap e-books (related to your end product), to send potential customers to your site and capture their e-mail address. Joint ventures. Etc, etc. Now, once you have a sizeable list, say 5,000 customers to start with. Put out an offer for the Front end product at $20 each. From this offer say you receive 500 orders. That equals $10,000
Three weeks later you send out the second offer, at $50 to the 500 that responded and receive 100 orders which equals $5,000. Three weeks later you send out the third offer at $97 to the 100 who responded and receive 50 orders which equals $4,850. This would give you a total of $19,850. However the figures in above example are just that, an example. As a general rule when using a list for the first time a response rate would be about 2% . But this is the typical format used in building and using a list.
As your list gets to know and trust you the response rate will grow. A word of warning, always offer quality products. Never use cheap shoddy goods. Always over deliver. Once you get a bad name you will never do well. Mud sticks.
